We're up and running

This blog is for those who want to participate in the activities of Think About the Children and hopefully get involved in our efforts to help the very poorest kids around the world, starting in Viet Nam.

Most of the people involved in Think About the Children are teachers and this blog will hopefully provide teachers with ideas and curriculum that can be used simply and easily in the classroom.

The real value of our efforts is our ability to connect teachers directly with students in Viet Nam. By October of 2007 we will have a College of Charleston graduate and certified teacher living in Hue. Her name is Liz Henderson. Liz will be doing the work of Think About the Children with the goal of using all available technology to connect English speaking Vietnamese with your students. Liz can also send pictures and videos to you so you can see you funds in action. No other charity allows you to see exactly what you funds are producing. You can communicate your interests or needs directly to Liz once she is in Hue.

We also hope to provide simple fundraising ideas. We want fundraising ideas that are easy for the teacher to do. We realize that every teacher is overworked so we want to suggest successful ideas that you can easily do each semester.

All of the fundraising goes to Vietnamese kids. A one room school house in a remote village can be as little as $8,000. A library can be as little as $2,000. We also get involved with orphans and traffiked children whenever possible.

I hope you will follow our blog and allow your students to get involved in activities that will benefit poor students more thanyo can know.
